The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CE.R.T.H.), the largest research centre in Northern Greece, was founded in March 2000. CERTH is a non-profit organization that functions under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology of the Hellenic Ministry of Development and consists of four (4) institutes with well - organized facilities and highly qualified personnel. The Centre will participate in the REMOTE Project, through:
- the Institute of Applied Biosciences (IEB),
- the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT), and
- the Information Technologies Institute (ITI).
IEB was established in 2007 aiming at the support and development of biomedical research based on a multidisciplinary approach and synergy amongst the various scientific endeavours and thematic areas of biomedical informatics, biomedical engineering, molecular medicine and pharmacogenetics. The development, assessment and standardization of innovative research and educational products, systems and services as well as spin-off companies for the support and uptake of innovative applications and products in the medical practice for the qualitative, safe and continuous provision of health services to the citizen emphasizing prevention and the quality based treatment of diseases is the primary goal of this group.
HIT is the Greek National Institute established in 2000 for the promotion of Transport Research and Policy support. It focuses on applied research in all fields and modes of Transport, with the aim to provide inputs for policy formulation, documentation of major trends and impacts, formulation of operational rules and procedures, improvement of the operation and transport management.
ITI was founded in 1998 as a non-profit organisation under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of Greece. Since 2000 it is a founding member of CERTH also supervised by the GSRT. ITI exhibits substantial research activity, both basic and industry-oriented, as well as technology transfer actions, in the area of multimodal interfaces, virtual, augmented and mixed realities where included modelling and simulation of complex virtual environments, haptic force feedback applied research, 3D modelling and compression, computer graphics, 3D semantics, deformable objects and cloth modelling, collaborative virtual environments, new sensor development for head/hands/body tracking, multimedia analysis/synthesis, gesture recognition, head motion modelling and tracking, advanced applications of virtual/augmented/mixed reality in education and training, e-health, assistive technologies, culture, industry and e-business, cloud and high performance computing.

Life Supporting Technologies (LST) is part of the UPM. LST is a multidisciplinary group of people leaders in education, research and technological development focused on the application of leading the edge information and communication technologies to produce new ideas, methods and technological solutions in the areas of e-Health, e-Inclusion and e-Learning.
The group maintains partnerships with public and private sectors in its research and technological development areas. Both past and current R&D projects funded by several national and European private and public research programs endorses LST experience, and a significant number of articles and papers that contribute to the dissemination of the results obtained in the different research areas. The LST knowledge in the field of Telecommunications, e-Health and e-Inclusion has experienced a significant growth, enabling the group to offer a portfolio of specialized services in this area, supported by a highly qualified and skilled staff.
The centre is specialized in the design, development and evaluation of services that are closely related with the scope of the REMOTE project, like the EU funded projects ISLANDS (QoL), PERSONA (6FP AAL), PERFORM (7PM eHealth) and OASIS (7PM eInclusion) among others.

The Institute of Computer Science (FORTH-ICS), one of the seven institutes of FORTH, has a relatively long history and recognized tradition, since its establishment in 1983, in conducting basic and applied research, developing applications and products, providing services, and playing a leading role in Greece and internationally, in the fields of Information and Communication Technologies. Activities of ICS cover important research and development areas, taking into consideration new perspectives, emerging fields of research and technological challenges worldwide. AGE main channel for information dissemination are: AGE monthly Bulletin, newsflashes, AGE website, brochures, the participation in national seminars on EU issues, running working groups on EU developments in the field of health, information and communication technologies, social protection, employment and age discrimination.
